Who created the Ecotourism Pan European Routes?
Although they are a private initiative, many international organizations were consulted and approved this initiative.
The division Ecological Sciences MAB (Man and the Biosphere) of the UNESCO proposed a selection of exceptional places for their landscape, or the quality of the architecture, or the specificities of local products.
The coordination of the tourism program of the UNEP (United Nations Environmental Program or Environmental Program of the United Nations), which after expert testimony qualified this international project very interesting for sustainable tourism that deserves the interest of the local professionals, the transport networks for group travelers, the Touring Club like « Automobile Club », the Associations of camper and hikers, and also the visitors of the 5 continents who travel freely.
The Assembly of European Regions, a NGO (Non-governmental Organization) in which 250 regions of 35 countries have joined, contributed to the layout of « The Ecotourism Pan European Routes » with the Committee on Tourism and Sustainability (CTS).
The workshops of OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) on market niches allow the improvement of the rural development for 130 countries and economies which take part in the exchanges of ideas of the organization. Pierre Guerry, consultant of this workshop as a marketing expert proposed an approach of eco-tourism to emphasize the local products and territorial specificities.
